During this time of lockdown and isolation many people are experiencing hardship and loss. We want to show God's love and care for people both inside and outside the church, who are in particular need at this time. We can all respond in different ways, here are some suggestions:
Our primary place of care in the church is our Reach Communities. If you are are isolated or want to help others, please e -mail the team to get connected:
"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to the family of faith"
Many practical needs will be met by Reach Communities. However where this is not financially possible we have a central Reach Crisis Fund. This will be carefully allocated based on priority needs by the Reach Response Core Team and local leaders.
Please help us support as many people as possible by giving to the Crisis fund
You can set up a standing order or one off payment using the following account details:
Account Name: EMCF
Sort Code: 20-25-85
Account No: 00345954
Reference: crisis fund
There is a 3% charge to us for donations made through ChurchSuite. You will have the option to cover this cost or it is taken from the donation.
To access the Crisis fund: Please speak to your Reach Community Leader or one of your local leaders or pastoral team, in confidence. They will make a referral for financial support.
As a church we work with amazing charity partners to serve those most in need in our communities. Here are some ways you can help them or access support you might need:
Safe Families are recruiting Covid-19 response volunteers to offer phone support to isolated families. They have a quicker volunteer process in place and you can join!
We are running a hotel for rough sleepers on pride park and although the social distancing is quite strict here, we are in need of donations and would love the following help:
We are in need of snacky food, like crisps, snack bars, biscuits, sweets, chocolate, squash etc. Things that have a decent shelf life!
We are also in need of mens trainers/boots various sizes and small mens clothes, t shirts, jeans, joggers. Underwear, socks and toiletries
If anyone can help they can bring them to the hotel, it is the Holiday Inn Express on Pride Park behind the Harvester Pub. There is a barrier, but if you drive up to it, it should rise. We are unable to have extra people in the hotel but you can drop off at the door, respecting social distancing. Or if volunteers feel more comfortable we can come out to the barrier to collect items. The hotel is staffed 24/7 so people can come any time.
We are also in need of items for our food parcels as demand has tripled at this time and looking to go higher. We are in particular need of:
Tins of hot meat | Tinned Potatoes | Rice | Shower Gel | Washing up liquid | Tinned Tomatoes
They can be dropped off at our Warehouse, which is Unit 6, Robinson Industrial Estate, just off Shaftesbury Street, DE23 8NL. There are volunteers there on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-midday
If people need help that can’t be met within the church, get them to ring 0115 915 5555 where they will be guided through options to help with food, prescriptions, pet care etc.
