Founding Pastors - Mark and Nesta Mumford

In the 1980’s Mark and Nester Mumford planted a church in the village of Giltbrook in the East Midlands region of England. Later that decade the church moved to Derby which became known as Community Church Derby.

As the church grew and pursued their missional vision to “Go. Plant. Build.”, they started bases in other parts of the East Midlands such as Leicester and Nottingham. Although these were new locations, they were all part of the same church with the same vision and the shared values of “Passionate Spirituality. Radical Community, and Missional Movement”. The church, now one church in many locations, became known as East Midlands Christian Fellowships (EMCF), which was itself part of a wider international apostolic network called Salt and Light.

Over time, the passion of the church saw it look beyond the East Midlands to other regions and nations. A name change was clearly needed and so in 2018 EMCF became “Reach”. At this time the vision was further clarified as being about “Bringing heaven to earth” and “Investing in people to multiply Jesus-centred communities that transform our world” but still with the deeply held values of “Passionate Spirituality. Radical Community, and Missional Movement”.

In the 2020’s Reach started new locations in Malaga and North Africa with a passion to see new bases in other cities, regions and nations. Reach continues today, as passionate as ever to bring heaven to earth and to invest in people to multiply Jesus-centred communities that transform our world.
